State trooper sends expletive-filled texts after DUI stop

"**** her," goes one text sent from North Carolina State Trooper Andrew Smith to his colleague. Smith's colleague, Edward Wyrick, Jr., had just pulled over a woman for a missing headlight, according to NBC 17, and is said to have had probable cause for a DWI arrest.

Wyrick has been cleared and does not face discipline, but he started the incident by sending a text to Smith, writing, "This woman refused all roadside testing and blew .00. Her husband is a trial lawyer and told me I should be ashamed of myself."

Smith, on the other hand, does face "more training" and a temporary suspension before being able to return to his job. Smith replied to Wyrick's text with, "Hahahaha **** her and **** him. She say how much she'd had to drink?"

Wyrick: "She said 1 drink at 7pm."

Smith: "**** her."

Apparently, the cops don't like it when you refuse roadside testing even though you've blown .00 on the breath test.

The woman's husband, the trial lawyer, wrote in an email: "It is hard to understand how it is permissible to arrest a soon-to-be 52-year-old mother of three for driving while impaired when she had nothing to drink and then refusing to release her."
