Accused drunk driver charged with felony involuntary manslaughter

"She was just beautiful and vibrant and everybody loved to be around her," says Lynn Lemmon, the mother of Autumn Soyka, who was killed in a felony-level drunk-driving accident on Oct. 30.

As Keyonna Summers reports for the St. Petersburg Times, Lemmon says, "She never said an unkind word about anybody. People gravitated towards her because she made them feel so good ... She was always trying to help other people."

It appears to be another example of how dangerous the Halloween weekend can be - Halloween evening is one of the riskiest nights for pedestrians, for instance - as Soyka and her boyfriend were driving home from a Halloween party.

The facts of the accident are not entirely clear, based on Summers's report, but it looks like a 50-year-old North Carolina man from Charlotte struck Soyka's car at one in the morning. Soyka died at the scene, while her boyfriend kissed her and told her to "hold on, hold on."
