One dead in North Carolina motorcycle accident

Motorcycles are a great economical way to travel. They save on fuel costs, can park in tight spaces, and can be fun to ride. Yet, the fact that these vehicles are small in size and offer less safety protections than other vehicles like cars and trucks renders them dangerous when their riders or other motorists do not use care. Unfortunately, all too often an inattentive driver's mistake will cause an accident that can leave a motorcyclist with serious injuries, or worse.

Sadly, a recent fatal accident left a North Carolina man dead. According to police, a car attempted to turn left at an intersection when it collided with the motorcyclist. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation. Though authorities believe speed may have been a factor, the truth will not be known until the investigation concludes.

As this incidents shows, a motorist's failure to yield or general motorcycle unawareness can be fatal. In turn, a victim's surviving family can be left in a tough situation. They may be emotionally devastated, heart-broken that they will never again be able to hear or see their loved one. They can also suffer extreme financial loss, as a family often must find a way to pay for medical and funeral costs that arise from the wreck as well as recoup their loved one's lost wages.

By filing a lawsuit against a negligent driver, a surviving family can attempt to recover these losses. Though it cannot bring their loved one back, successfully showing that a defendant's negligence caused the victim's death may bring a family much needed compensation. Hopefully then they can find the financial stability they need and deserve. Filing such a claim also helps raise motorcycle awareness and might therefore protect other riders from unnecessary harm.
