Distracted drivers a constant threat on the road

A new study on distracted driving shows that it is still one of the most common and most dangerous behaviors on the road. Just how many drivers are distracted? Roughly 660,000 people in the U.S. are using cellphones or electronic devices while driving at any given time, according to a new study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Fatigue causes more car accidents than previously presumed

Fatigue may be causing more car accidents than currently believed. A new study found that fatigue causes roughly 20 percent of car accidents, a significant increase from the previously stated two to three percent found in earlier studies.

New GPS rules to help prevent commercial truck bridge strikes

Commercial trucks often rely on GPS devices while driving, especially when they are travelling across the country. While GPS devices can be very helpful, an increasing number of commercial trucks have hit bridges while diving underneath due to their GPS not being updated or not reading the map correctly.

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month

Distracted driving is a very prevalent safety issue in North Carolina and throughout the country. This month is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and the National Safety Council is trying to teach all drivers about the dangers of using cellphones and other electronic devices while driving.
