Trailer accidents can be prevented in North Carolina

With summer almost here, more families in North Carolina will be heading to the lake with their boats. This means that more vehicles will be pulling utility trailers, unknowingly putting everyone on the road at risk. Foreign companies may soon be held liable for defective products

Consumer product safety advocates want foreign manufacturers to stop selling unsafe and defective products in the U.S. but it is difficult for foreign companies to be held liable for selling defective products due to the difficulty of bringing foreign manufacturers to court in the U.S. for defective products.

Bill would limit size and weight of commercial trucks

Commercial truck accidents can result in serious injuries and fatalities. Investigations often find that many truck accidents are caused by unsafe commercial vehicles or unsafe truck drivers operating the vehicle. To address the dangers posed by commercial trucks, legislators have proposed a bill that would limit the size and weight of commercial trucks. 

Fatal car accidents increased last year

Car accidents are always happening and unfortunately, fatal car accidents increased throughout the country last year. Despite traffic fatalities declining during the previous years, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that 34,080 people were killed in traffic accidents last year, which was a 5.3 percent increase from 2011.

A new study has found that over 40 percent of truck drivers in Australia have sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a disorder where a person stops breathing throughout the night. Sleep apnea can lead to sleepiness and fatigue during the day due to the nightly disturbance in sleep.
